Application
Do you know some uses of Tio2 ?
As far as Titanium oxide is concerned, it is the most durable and the most common of all oxides of this metal. Being a white powder whose melting point is about 1830 ° C and the boiling temperature is about 2500 ° C, Tio2 is not soluble in water. In addition to this, it is also used for occuring in three mineral varieties, tetragonal Rutile and Anatase and rhombic Brookite.
There are different applications in which it is used with a user guide and according to your requirement. Some of the common uses include, but not limited to:
1. Cosmetics – mainly for the formulation of gels, eye shadows, foundation, lipstick, pastes that include teeth and as a component of pigments.
2. Plastic materials like wall claddings, floor coverings (linoleum, rubber, PVC), roofing, wires, cables.
3. It is also used in the protective layer against degradation of atmospheric conditions (especially UV radiation.
4. Tio2 is also used in the production of inks and printing inks; mainly as a pigment with excellent whiteness and very good properties.
5. This chemical is also used largely in paper pulp that is anatine and used as a filler and reinforcement.
In addition to aforementioned applications and uses, there are different other uses like packaging film, adhesive mortars, plasters, cement, caulking agents, ceramic tiles that is an additive that improves resistance to color change. Not to mention use in PCigar production that includes titanium white gives the ash a white color.
Tio2 is available in different forms as listed below:
Rutile titanium dioxide YR 803 – This is produced by chloride process that uses organic surface treatment. It has good whiteness, high covering power and weather resistant. It is used in paints for car, powder coating etc.
Rutile titanium dioxide ZR940+ – This product has high level of whiteness, glossiness and hiding power. It is resistant to weather and chalk. It is recommended for high quality paints for external and internal coating.
Rutile titanium dioxide ZR969 – this is mainly produced for high durability and chalking resistance. It is used in paintings, plastics and paper used in outdoor.
The photocatalytic properties of TiO2 are used in modern technologies; mainly photo catalysis is the acceleration of a chemical reaction under the influence of light that include UV radiation, visible radiation, infrared in the presence of a photocatalyst. Titanium white appropriately ground to the size of nanoparticles has unique photocatalytic properties and can get from tio2 supplier.
